Joining the library

Joining the library is FREE and simple; and there are options for everyone. Not a resident of South Australia? Not a problem. You can still join the library and use our facilities, even if you live outside the State, or even outside of Australia. Visit our Who Can Join page for more information.

If you’re aged 18 years or older, all you have to do is come into a branch and see one of our friendly staff who will help you to complete the membership form. Don’t forget to bring at least one current type of identification; you must show this when you join.

For those 17 years and younger, you’ll need to have a parent or guardian come into the library with you; they’ll need to complete the registration form on your behalf. If they’re already a member, all they need to do is bring some current ID and add you to their existing membership. You’ll still get your own library card to use independently of your parent / guardian.

Once you’ve completed the registration process, you’ll be given a library card that can be used in any public library within South Australia.
