Author spotlight: Rosanne Hawke

Rosanne is an award-winning author born in Penola who now calls Kapunda home. She’s written more than 25 books for young adults and children and taught Creative Writing at Tabor College in Adelaide.

Rosanne has a PhD in Creative Writing and creates fascinating stories about culture, faith, relationships, music, displacement and belonging.

Some of Rosanne’s achievements include being shortlisted for the Australian Aurealis Awards and Kanga Awards Focus List. Her book ‘Quest of the Porcelain Doll’ made the Children’s Book Council of Australia Notable Book list and she has won awards for ‘Across the Creek’ and ‘Taj and the Great Camel Trek’. Recognised by Tabor College Adelaide with an Award for Teaching Excellence, Rosanne has also been awarded a ‘Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning’, the 2006 Carclew Fellowship and the 2014 Nance Donkin Award. Rosanne is an official ‘Bard of Cornwall’.

Her latest book, written with her daughter Lenore Penner, is ‘Chandani and the Ghost of the Forest’, and will be released in May 2019.
