The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available to members of our library service. Adult library cardholders that have their home library set to Light Regional Public Library Service can now access Kanopy and sign up to start streaming films and documentaries instantly.
Start by visiting lrpl.kanopy.com in your web browser to sign up for an account. You’ll be asked to enter your library barcode and PIN. Not sure what your PIN is? You can reset your PIN by opening our online catalogue in your web browser – onecard.network/light – and clicking on the “My Account/Renew Items” link…
Next, click on the “Forgot PIN/Recover username” link in the popup window.
If you’re having trouble resetting your PIN, you can pop into one of our branches at Freeling, Greenock or Kapunda and ask one of the staff to reset it for you.
Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV or Chromecast.
The New York Times called Kanopy “a garden of cinematic delights.”
The Kanopy catalogue features more than 30,000 of the world’s best films – including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favourites, indie and classic films, and world cinema; together with collections from Umbrella Entertainment, Madman Entertainment, Under the Milky Way, SND Films and thousands of independent filmmakers.
With Kanopy’s motto of “thoughtful entertainment” you’ll have access to films of unique social and cultural value; films that are often difficult or impossible to access elsewhere, and programming that features diversity, with a wide array of foreign language films and films on race, and current affairs.
The Kanopy collection includes indie hits like Hunt For the Wilderpeople and A Quiet Passion, classic masterpieces like Charade and L’Avventura, and award-winning documentaries like the 2017 Oscar®-nominated I Am Not Your Negro and Sundance Film Festival winner 52 Tuesdays.
In addition, a number of films that are set in, and are about Australia, can be found on Kanopy – like the Sydney Film Festival winner Zach’s Ceremony, the thought-provoking documentaries Murundak: Songs of Freedom and Why Me – Stolen Generations, and acclaimed films like The Dressmaker and the Palme d’Or -nominated drama, Wake In Fright.
We’re excited to bring this new service to our customers and hope you enjoy everything Kanopy has to offer. There’s definitely something for everyone in their large catalogue of titles!
