The Little Bang Discovery Club @ The Hewett Centre
The Light Regional Library Service is excited to be running the Little Bang Discovery Club twice next term at the Hewett Centre!
The program is free and aims to show children (and their carers) that science is fun, part of everyday life and not just for scientists in laboratories.
The Little Bang Discovery Club is a four week science program for children 3 – 5 years old. Children will learn science basics like: collecting, classifying, measuring and experimenting. They will also take part in aseries of activities, experiments and experiences with a mini Science Fairin week 4 for them to showcase their own discoveries.
The Discovery Club is free and runs for 4 weeks with the same children. It’s an important part of the program that children attend all four weeks.
Children will receive a Little Bang Discovery Box to take home and useduring the Discovery Club (to be returned at the final session). They willalso receive a passport to keep which will be stamped at each session theyattend and a certificate in the final session.
Active and positive involvement is also required from a parent or caregiverduring each session. They will act as an assistant to the child who becomesthe lead scientist. Children will also have simple homework tasks eachweek which may need some adult help to complete.
